A brief run-up to the present
My interest in photography began during my high school years. I had an intense passion for art and photography but there was only occasional access to a borrowed camera. All this changed when I moved to the UK and acquired a professional camera and a couple of lenses. Over the next decade I travelled extensively and taught myself through mistakes and experimentation.
In 2005 I received a boost when a corporate in London bought a themed set of pictures for their offices. This encouraged me to pursue photography more seriously after moving to Singapore. I remain self-taught, having had no formal instruction in the techniques or tools of photography.
Philosophy and credo
I am a purist and remain faithful to the truth and spontaneity of what I see and capture on film, presenting the moment to the viewer pure and unchanged. My portfolio is eclectic: its canvas stretches from Mongolia to Argentina, Norway to Vietnam, and its subjects range from people and animals to nature and architecture.
Exhibition history
- The British Club — October / November 2006. 22 pictures displayed in the foyer.
- The Arts House — September 2007. The first fully planned and curated exhibition, featuring 54 photographs taken across the world.
- Alliance Française de Singapour — April 2008. A repeat of the previous exhibition, accompanied by new images.
- The Arts House — February 2009. 59 photographs themed around Asia.
- The Arts House — February 2012. 55 photographs again centred on Asia, exploring the changing environment and ethos of the region.
